Add tax to a price, or take it back out of one that already includes it.
How this works
Adding tax multiplies; taking it out divides. Nineteen per cent taken off 119,000 leaves 96,390, but the price the tax was charged on is 100,000. Anybody who subtracts instead of dividing is out by 3,610 on that line, and by the same proportion on every other one.
The base and the tax always add up to the total. Whichever figure you typed is kept exactly as you typed it, and the other is worked out from it.
